What is Ayurveda?

Ayurvedic medicine (“Ayurveda” for short) is one of the world’s oldest holistic (“whole-body”) healing systems. It was developed more than 3,000 years ago in India. Ayurveda is more than a mere system of treating illness, it’s a science of life (Ayur = life, Veda = science or knowledge). It offers a body of wisdom designed to help people stay vibrant and healthy while realizing their full human potential. The main goal of Ayurveda is to promote good health, not fight disease.

This Lassi recipe is a popular Indian drink that is refreshing and helps aid digestion. It consists mainly of plain yogurt (we are using fresh coconut – almond yogurt), purified water and spices, making it a powerful and delicious digestive healer. This Vegan Lassi also includes turmeric among other spices, making it a great tonic for the skin, liver and blood as well.  In fact, when turmeric is taken in this manner (with yogurt), it is an excellent blood strengthener and cleanser, and is considered a great remedy for those with anemia.
