Homemade chocolate – hazelnut spread
As most kids in north America grow up eating peanut-butter sandwiches in Europe we have a similar tradition.
However its much more tastier than peanut-butter (my biased opinion)
Its called Nutella.
This creamy hazelnut chocolate spread is absolutely heavenly!
When I first introduced Joe to this jar of rich velvet awesomeness it was a love at first taste.
But…
…then I read the ingredients list…sighh
The fist item (which is always the most represented) is sugar, second one is palm oil to make it more spreadable 🙁
So I decided to make my own version of Nutella.
It’s super easy to make and its 100% vegan.
Now if you excuse me I have a delicious snack waiting for me…

Ingredients:
- 1 1/2 cups hazelnuts
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 3/4 cup raw sugar or agave nectar (I used Truvia)
- 1/4 cup cocoa
- 3-4 tbsp vegetable or safflower oil (for creamier texture use coconut oil)
- 2 tbsp soy milk
Preparation:
Using a food processor, grind the hazelnuts until fine and powdery. Process for another minute or two. If your food processor is strong enough, the hazelnuts will eventually turn creamy and smooth. If you’re using a less powerful food processor, this won’t happen.Add remaining ingredients and process until smooth and creamy.
Enjoy!
