In this episode, we will discuss the basic of eating natural food and the importance of enjoying your exercise.
You’ll learn:
* The BEST sources of Plant Based Protein – WARNING! ….this may shock you!!
* All about “natural eating” and what it can do for your health.
* How to NEVER have to “suffer” through another workout again.
I love kickboxing, running (as long as my knees are not sore!) and Zumba, but sometimes yoga is a good change of pace. I also burn a lot of calories at dance rehearsals when I’m participating in a musical. I guess my secret is variety!
Thanks for sharing Kate 🙂
Great show guys – you always inspire me!
re: exercise likes/dislikes
I think my favourite training is when we do combinations (on the bags or mits) for conditioning, not that it means I am very good at it! I also love the intense workouts Zuzana puts together for bootcamp (and have been through quite a few doozies with Joe), even when I have difficulty… I like to believe that my endurance is improving over time 🙂
Exercises that involve a lot of up-down/jumping I find most challenging (e.g. burpies)… sometimes my feet feel like lead cannons 🙁
Thank you Alyssa,
I enjoy having you in my class. You are a hard worker and students like you are what makes the bootcamp so much fun for me. Keep it up 😉
I thought that for your first podcast ever this was definitely not short of amazing. I honestly feel inspired to perhaps not so much become vegetarian but try and implement more of a plant based diet in my daily routine. I have tried before to eat better but I find I always loss interest or simply give up because I feel I can do or you know I end up eating something like MacDonald’s.(not that I am ever proud of eating that garbage but it happen). I feel that this has now opened my eyes to something that perhaps will intern benefit me for the better. I have never been one to leave comments that have been overly great so bear with me here.
Let me say thought that I have become inspired by you to eat better. I will certainly not be missing an episode of this podcast and I can’t wait for the next one to come out.
Great job guys!

Hey Steve! Thank you for the comment. That’s exciting to hear about your plans to tackle a triathlon. Good for you guys! Joe and I love Brendan Brazier’s products, and actually couple of weeks ago we attended his presentation at the Vegetarian Food Fair in Toronto. Really enjoyed his talk and got inspired to take our nutrition to a new level 🙂
One more think I have to mention: I am very impressed by the by the selection at the natural food section at the Zehrs market stores! You guys definitely are way above most grocery stores as far as natural, healthy, organic products are concern. Zehrs is definitely my #1 choice for grocery shopping.
Congratulations on your first podcast Joe and Zuzana. I found it very professional, informative and entertaining. Can’t wait for next week.
Thank you Ken. Stay tuned; next one is on it’s way =)
Hey, Guys:
Lovely job! Full of great information.
And, for those of you who don’t personally know these two, I can attest to their ability to “walk the walk” with regards to their messages both in terms of training and diet. Have seen them both grow immensely as trainers, athletes and people in just a few short years.
I will not miss and episode.
I love these guys!
Jeff Jimmo
Thank you Jeff for your kind words. You are definitely our inspiration to live a healthy and fulfilling life. Joe and I feel very fortunate to have you as our friend and mentor.

Great podcast. For a tempeh recipe, try Toronto-based restaurant Fresh for Life. I’ve pulled the best tofu marinade I’ve ever made from their cook books and their vegetarian dishes win over most meat-atarians.
A few years back I put myself through an intense 3-week detox. Even though I’d cut 90% of what I normally ate out of my diet, replacing it with green veggies, beans and gluten-free grains, I found I was actually eating more, was rarely hungry and was losing weight and gaining energy.
Looking forward to your future podcasts Joe and Zuzanna.
Thank you for the tip and kind words. We will definitely have to check the restaurant out in the near future.
side-note to Duncan’s comment:
Ruth Tal Brown (owner of Toronto restaurant “Fresh” – formerly “Juice for Life”) also has a book, titled after the restaurant’s original name (Juice for Life, 2000, ISBN 0771576900).
But it’s not JUST juice – there are some other great recipes and tips 🙂
And the best recipe we have found (online) so far for veggie burgers is from Fresh! I’ve never been to the restaurant, but I bet they do a better job pulling off their recipes than I can 🙂
Interesting overview of whole natural foods. Helpful specific sources of protien mentioned. I like the structure: Overview, specifics, fitness tip, challenge, recap/focus and future topics.
Challenge: watch word usage when nervious: Joe: “and”
Zuzanna: “absolutely”
Format suggestion: mention in the introduction that the podcast is under fifteen minutes. This is a selling point.
Great job. Looking forward to future programs.
Thank you Matthew. We appreciate your suggestions. This was our first attempt, we will work hard to improve with each episode. Stay tuned 😉
Awesome podcast! You guys did a great job. I’d have to say my favorite exercise is 4 by 4 and my least favorite is push ups!
Can’t wait for the next one!! 🙂
Thank you Emily! I wasn’t a big fan of push ups either – then I discover different variations like diamond, uneven, spider man, dynamic and more…. believe or not you can make push ups fun 😉
Very informative! Learned alot! Great job! Where can I buy tempeh?
You can buy Tempeh in the Healthy Food section at most grocery stores ….it will be refrigerated. Glad you guys liked the first episode. We will be recording another one this weekend.
